- Karl Heinrich Waggerl
was born in Badgastein in 1897 and died in 1973 after an accident.
He was a prolific write, whose first publication was the novel Brot
[Bread] in 1930. The themes of his early writing show a proximity
to National socialist ideology nevertheless, he gained a high degree
of popularity with his shorter writings after the Second World War.
His books have sold more than five million copies. In addition to
being a writing of novels, sstories, and essays, he was a visual
artist, specializing in water colors, sketches, and photography.
