- Jörg Steiner was
born in Biel, where he again lives today, in 1930. After teaching,
he turned to literature and even founded his own publishing house,
which he directed from 1955 to 1960. His work has increasingly incorporated
political aspectes and encompasses poetry, for example, Als
es noch Grenzen gab (When there still Were Borders; 1976) and
prose, for example, Auf dem Bere Sinai sitzt der Schneider Kikiriki
(On Mount Sinai Sits Tailor Cock-a-Doodle-Doo; 1969).
