- ROTHMANN, Ralf
- Ralf Rothmann, born
in Schleswig, grew up in the area of the Ruhr river, and has lived
in Berlin since 1976. He learned masonry, worked in different jobs,
and finally became a freelance writer. While he is well known for
prose that displays a raw energy in dealing with his old stomping
grounds—for example, in Wäldernacht [1994, Nicht
in the Woods]—his writing shows a broad range of themes and
also includes poetry, such as the collection of poems Gebet
in Ruinen [2000, Prayer in Ruins].
