- Ulrich Ott, born in 1939, studied classical philology in Tübingen, Vienna,and Berlin. He worked on the unpublished writings of Rudolf Borchardt and edited Borchardt's collected works. He was wissenschaftlicher Assistent , equivalent to assistant professor, in Tübingen, librarian in Hannover, deputy director of the library in Konstanz, director of the library in Trier, and since 1985 he has been the director of the National Schiller Museum and the German Literary Archives and, ex officio , managing director of the German Schiller Association.
