NAUMANN, Michael
MIchael Naumann, born in Koethe (Saxony-Anhalt) in 1941, studied political science, history, and philosophy. After working as a journalist for DIE ZEIT and DER SPIEGEL, he headed the Rowohlt Publishing House starting in 1985; from 1995 to 1998 he first headed Metropolitan Books and then Henry Holt in New York. He returned to Germany in 1998, when he was appointed Minister of Culture and Media. Since 2001 he has been editor of DIE ZEIT. He gave the speech that is included in Volume 7, Number 2/3 in the German parliament. It is now in the public domain; the translation rights lie with DIMENSION2.
