- MOSEBACH, Martin
- Martin Mosebach, born
in 1951, lives in Frankfurt. After attending law school, he decided
to become a freelance writer. His work comprises novels and stories,
as well as plays, film scripts, and libretti. Das Bett
[1983, The Bed), Ruppertshain [1992], Westend
[1992], Die Türkin [1999, The Turkish Woman], and
EIne lange Nacht [2000, A Long Night] are considered his
most important novels. His novel Der Nebelfürst [2001,
The Prince of Mist] has received high critical acclaim and has even
been called Mosebachs best work yet. It tells an adventure storing
involving con artists with colonial aspirations, the satiric and
realistic style matching an "absurd" episode in German
history.
