Dimension2: Contemporary German-Language Literature

Judith Hermann was born in Berlin in 1970. In the interview printed in Volume 7, Number 1, she talks about some of her experiences, such as being trained as a journalist. Mainly, however, she talks about her writing, especially her first book Sommerhaus, später [1998; Summerhouse, Later] and its tremendous critical success. In quick succession, she has won several prestigious awards, including the Kleist Prize in 2001. Her second collection of stories, Nichts als Gespenster [Nothing but Ghosts] was published in 2003.
