Hubert Fichte was born
in 1935 and died in 1986. He lived in Hamburg as a free-lance writer
from 1961 on. He was a widely praised innovative author who is credited
for having made homosexuality a subject matter of serious post-war
German literature. His early novels, sich as Die Palette
[1968; named after a gay bar in Hamburg] and Versuch über
die Pubertät [1974; Essay on Puberty], are among his best
works.
