Dimension2: Contemporary German-Language Literature

ZWEIG, Stefanie
Stefanie Zweig, born in Upper Silesia in 1932, had to leave Germany with her parents because of the Nazi persecution of Jews. The family went to Kenya but returned to Germany in 1947. She lives in Frankfurt, where she has been a freelance writer since 1988. Her autobiographical novels were huge successes, selling over 5.5 million copies. The novel Nowhere in Africa was made into a move (see also: the "Forward!" in Vol. 8, No. 1); the sequel Somewhere in Germany, is to be released as a movie soon.

Brief an Sidele Onyulo (Letter to Sidele Onyulo) from Owuors Heimkehr (Munich: Langen Müller in der F. A. Herbig Verlagsbuchhandlung, 2003): Vol. 8, No. 1
