Dimension2: Contemporary German-Language Literature

Michael Scharang, born in Steiermark (Styria) in 1941, now lives in Vienna, where he studied and earned his Ph.D. in theater in 1965. He has written essays, stories, novels, radio plays, and film scripts. While his writing has changed formally over the years, he has maintained an interest in social criticism. Among the awards that he has won is the 1989 New York grant of the Deutscher Literaturfonds.
