Dimension2: Contemporary German-Language Literature

ROSEI, Peter
Peter Rosei, born in Vienna in 1946, also lives in Vienna, where he studied law before he became a free lance writer. Since the seventies, he has published prolifically. Beginning with his early work, such as Landstriche in 1973, his prose has been compared to that of Franz Kafka; in 1993 he was awarded the Franz-Kafka Prize. The kafka-esque quality of his 1993 book, Bei schwebendem Verfahren, is clear from the excerpt published in Vol. 1 No. 1 (January 1994). His 1995 novel, Persona , consists of three parts, "Landschaften" [Landscapes], "Krone des Lebens" [The Crown of Life], and "Out of the Future, Aus der Zukunft." The excerpt in Vol. 3 No. 1 is taken from this last part.

Bei schwebendem Verfahren (Case Pending ): Vol. 1, No. 1
Aus der Zukunft (Out of the Future ) from Persona : Vol. 3, No. 1
