ERPENBECK, Jenny
Jenny Erpenbeck was born in East Berlin in 1967. She studied to be a theater and opera director with, among others, Ruth Berghaus, Werner Herzog, and Heiner Müller. Beginning in 1991, she worked in Berlin and Graz, Austria, as a freelance writer and theater director. She now lives in Berlin. Her literary debut, Geschichte vom alten Kind [1999, Story of the Old Chile], was a great success.
