Dimension2: Contemporary German-Language Literature

ECKART, Gabriele
Gabriele Eckart, born in the German Democratic Republic in 1954, now lives in the United States, where she teaches German. She has published poetry, prose and interviews; the latter made her well-known with the collection So seh ick die Sache (1984) because of the critical attitude toward the East German state displayed by the "average" workers who were interviewed. A collection of short stories, Hitchhiking , is available in English translation from the University of Nebraska Press.

Eros, beim Lesen der Sappho (Eros, Upon Reading Sappho) from Sturzacker: Gedichte 1980-84: Vol. 3, No. 3
