Dimension2: Contemporary German-Language Literature

DONHAUSER, Michael
Michael Donhauser was born in Vaduz (Liechtenstein) in 1956 and has lived in Vienna since 1976. He has written primarily prose poems. The poem, "Der Pfirsich," was selected from his first book with Hanser Publishing House, Von den Dingen [1993; Of the Things]. Donhauser's approach to "things" via language is reminiscent of Rainer Maria Rilke's project of Dinggedichte . In his new book with Residenz Verlag, Das neue Leben [1994; The New Life], he explores the ancient poetic tradition of haiku.

Der Pfirsich (Peach ) from Von den Dingen: Vol. 1, No. 2

Drei Lose und andere Haiku (Three Lotto TIchets and other Haiku ) from Das neue Leben: Vol. 2, No. 2
