Dimension2: Contemporary German-Language Literature

BECKER, Jürgen Jakob
Jürgen Jacob Becker was born in 1964 and studied German and Latin American literatures in Mainz and Berlin. For many years he has been at the Literary Colloquium Berlin, where he is in charge of the program and also directs the Deutsche Übersetzerfonds. He is the coeditor (together with Ulrich Janetzki) of several anthologies: Helden wie Ihr: Junge Schriftsteller über ihre literarischen Vorbilder (2000) and Die Stadt nach der Mauer: Neue Literatur aus Berlin (1998). The essay included in Volume 7, Number 1 is the translation of Becker's preface to the latter book, a collection of texts that testify to the vibrant literature written in Berlin about Berlin.

The City, Its History, Its Stories—Reflections on the Literature of a New Berlin: Vol. 7, No. 1
